One person is in hospital in critical but stable condition after a three-vehicle collision on Highway 63 early Wednesday morning.

The collision involving a semi occurred around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning on Highway 63 approximately 10 kilometres north of Boyle, Alta.

Boyle RCMP said one person was airlifted to hospital in Edmonton in critical but stable condition.

Police say road conditions were icy at the time of the collision.

Charges are pending.

The highway north of Boyle was closed both north and southbound for several hours Wednesday morning as a result of the collision.

Boyle is approximately 146 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
