Ottawa police arrest suspect in Mooney's Bay area shooting

Ottawa police have located and arrested a 23-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting in the Mooney's Bay area last week that critically injured a woman.

Police responded to the shooting Dec. 3 in the 2800-block of Riverside Drive, just south of Heron Road. Ottawa paramedics said a woman was treated at the scene and transported to hospital in critical condition.

An update provided last week by police said her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Police had been seeking public assistance in finding Ibrahim Abdullani of Ottawa in connection with the shooting.

On Tuesday, police announced he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and multiple firearms-related offences.

He appeared in court on Wednesday.
