The province has made results of daycare inspections available on the internet, in an effort to make daycare providers more accountable.

"Whenever [parents] read anything in the media reports, whether it's good, neutral or bad about childcare programs, it just raises awareness about how important it is to gather information," Leann Wagner with Alberta Children and Youth Services said in an interview with CTV News Friday.

It's with that awareness in mind that the province is now making results from daycare inspections available online.

Parents can search the province's database, and find information on facility locations, ages of children served, maximum number of children a program can take, accreditation status and recent inspection results.

On the ‘Child Care Lookup' website, the province says licensed child care programs are already required to post their inspection reports in a public place.
