Edmonton police have laid charges against a suspect, believed to have been involved in a late night stabbing and assault on the city’s north side last week.

On Friday, police said Frank James Okimaw, 27, was arrested Friday in downtown Edmonton.

Police had issued warrants for his arrest Tuesday, after releasing images of him, taken from surveillance footage from the scene, in an effort to identify him.

The investigation began after police were called to the area of 81 Street and 127 Avenue at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday, April 18.

It’s alleged a man was assaulted and stabbed – the man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Okimaw is facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.
