Edmonton police have charged a 17-year-old with the second-degree murder of a local pizza shop owner who was found seriously injured at his business early Tuesday.

Police say they were called to the business in the area of 119 Street and 129 Avenue around 4:30 a.m.

Investigators say someone reported finding a male suffering from what appeared to be serious injuries. The male victim was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

Police have not released the name of the victim but friends and family have identified the man as Mohammad Bashir Khan.

Raja Nazir is the victim's brother. He says his brother was a hard worker who took over as the family's patriarch when their father died at an early age.

Khan, originally from Lebanon, leaves behind a wife, six children and many grandchildren. Police say the teen has also been charged with robbery and a weapons-related offence.

The teen is scheduled to make a court appearance on May 26th.
