Edmonton police confirmed Thursday that the human remains found in central Alberta Monday are those of a woman reported missing from Edmonton in late March.

On Monday, May 12, remains were found by RCMP search teams in a forested area, close to where the vehicle owned by Anina Hundsdoerfer, 32, was found in late March.

Hundsdoerfer was reported missing Sunday, March 23 by a roommate – her last known location was the office where she worked in Edmonton the day before her disappearance was reported.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officers found her vehicle on Highway 734 between Rocky Mountain House and Nordegg on Tuesday, March 25.

On Thursday, EPS said the Medical Examiner completed an autopsy – and confirmed the remains were those of Hundsdoerfer.

Detectives found no signs of foul play, and the death is considered non-criminal.
