Police north of Edmonton are investigating, after a fire near Gibbons left a number of trailers, a motorhome and a vehicle destroyed early Thursday morning.

Officials said the fire started at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday. The blaze destroyed three trailers, a motorhome and a car on the rental property northeast of Gibbons.

Firefighters brought in water to battle the flames.

According to fire officials, a number of propane tanks exploded before firefighters arrived – no one was hurt.

“The renter here who rented it, her dog woke her up and she called it in,” Eric Lowe with the Gibbons Fire Department said.

Crews on the scene said they didn’t know what caused the blaze, police were on scene and were gathering evidence, including photos, but said it wasn’t clear if the fire is an arson.
