The RCMP are releasing the identity of the victim in fatal hit-and-run on Highway 16 at the intersection of Secondary Highway 870 near Innisfree, Alberta.

Vermilion RCMP say Roderick Kurtis Kaminsky was crossing the highway northbound when a vehicle traveling westbound struck the man and drove on without stopping.

Kaminsky died at the scene.

Officers were called to the scene of the collision around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police are still investigating the incident, and are asking the public to help in identifying the driver who struck and killed the pedestrian.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark green 1990 to 1995 Dodge Caravan minivan.

Police say the minivan will have extensive damage to its front and will be missing its grill.

Innisfree is located near Vermilion, about 147 kilometres east of Edmonton.
