Days after an elderly woman was violently attacked in her home as she slept, police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in the hopes of finding her attacker.

Police are investigating after a 79-year-old woman was violently assaulted overnight on Tuesday, November 29, as she slept.

The suspect reportedly broke into her home in the Parkdale neighbourhood, police aren't sure if the attack was motivated by theft, or if it was targeted.

The woman was treated and released from hospital later that day.

The suspect is described as:

  • Aboriginal male
  • About 35-years-old
  • 5'10" tall
  • Strong build
  • Long black hair, grown past shoulders
  • High cheekbones
  • Sparse moustache
