Edmonton police are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery at a jewelry store in Capilano Mall on Friday afternoon.

The robbery happened just before 1 p.m., when the suspect allegedly struck a glass case in a jewelry store and grabbed a large amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene in a cab.

“This afternoon we had an armed robbery where a lone male entered into a mall jewelry merchant and produced a hand gun and effectively was able to leave with a large quantity of jewelry,” said Staff. Sgt Doug Fedechko.

The suspect is described as:

  • Aboriginal
  • In his 20s
  • Wearing white pants and a black shirt
  • Has a Mohawk hair-cut

Investigators spent hours at the scene of the jewelry store and combing through a cab outside of the mall.

No one was injured in the robbery.
