Edmonton police were asking for the public’s help, as officers searched for a man believed to have violently assaulted a woman over the weekend.

Police said between 2 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday, a violent altercation took place between a man and a woman in a home located in the area of 165 Street and 83 Avenue.

Now, EPS said Jason Robert Way, 38, is wanted on warrants for the following charges: housebreaking, intimidation, theft of a motor vehicle, theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon, breach of recognizance, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.

Way is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 175 cm (5’9”) tall
  • 77 kg (170 lbs)
  • Medium build
  • Brown eyes
  • Light brown hair
  • May be wearing glasses

It’s believed Way was driving a stolen 2003 Ford F150, light brown in colour, with an Alberta license plate BKW0823.

Police said EPS officers have been working with RCMP to track Way down, as it’s believed he may try to drive to Fort McMurray.

It’s believed the suspect is violent and dangerous – if any member of the public sees Way, police said they’re advised to not approach him, but to call police immediately.

Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
