Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect, believed to have been involved in the weekend robbery of an armoured truck at a grocery store on the south side.

Officers were called to the grocery store located on Mill Woods Road and 38 Avenue at about noon Sunday, after a robbery was reported.

Police said it was reported that a man, wearing dark clothing and a ‘muskrat-style’ hat pepper sprayed an armoured truck guard, and took an undisclosed amount of cash – before fleeing in a black SUV, with another person of interest behind the wheel.

The guard was treated on the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Police distributed photos of the alleged suspect, captured off of surveillance video.

Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
