Edmonton police have laid charges against a man in his 20s, after officers searched a vehicle earlier this week, and found a number of weapons.

According to police, in the early hours of Wednesday, June 26, West Division officers were called to a noise complaint, when they noticed a suspicious vehicle nearby.

When they investigated, police discovered the vehicle had been stolen, and a search revealed a number of weapons, including a knife, baseball bat, and a loaded homemade gun, commonly called a zip gun.

The particular weapon officers found is a modified pen-type bear banger flare launcher, with the potential to fire a .22 calibre bullet.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged Ryan Robert Pollock, 21, with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of stolen property, unauthorized possession of firearm in a vehicle.
