Edmonton police are issuing a warning to the public about the recent release of a 26-year-old man who is considered to be a violent and poses a risk of significant harm to the community.

Daniel Boyd Sawyer was recently released from a correctional facility after he completed a 48-month sentence for manslaughter, assault with a weapon and drug trafficking.

Police say he will be monitored by the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit and may be residing in Edmonton.

Sawyer is described as an aboriginal male, 5'8"tall and 170 lbs.

He has black hair and brown eyes, and numerous tattoos.
