Edmonton police are warning the public that a convicted sexual offender, recently released from prison in Saskatchewan, will live in the city.

Police issued a warning about Kevin John Wadsworth, 34, who recently completed a three-year sentence, served in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, for sexual assault.

Wadsworth is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • 72 kg (160 lbs)
  • 175 cm (5’9”) tall
  • Brown hair
  • Blue eyes

Wadsworth is a diagnosed pedophile, who is attracted to pre-pubescent girls and boys.

He is considered to be at a high risk of re-offending sexually and violently, either against young girls and boys, or women he is in an intimate relationship with.

Officials said Wadsworth will be living in the Edmonton area, where police with the EPS Behavioural Assessment Unit will monitor him.

The warning came after police deliberated over all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is in the public interest to inform the community.

EPS said members of the public are advised the intent of the warning is to allow citizens to take precautions, not to encourage vigilante action.
