Driving on ice can make the most experienced motorists a little nervous, but today a handful of specially trained drivers set out to do just that, taking their vehicles to a frozen lake for a race.

The Northern Alberta Sports Car Club held it's annual Ice Racing Competition on a lake just south of Stony Plain Sunday.

Drivers say they look forward to the adrenaline rush they get from racing on the ice.

Emile Chaput says what he likes most about the race is the, "excitement, the speed, going into corners and not worrying about having to hit something and damaging your street vehicle."

All of the drivers who participated in the race were required to go through ice driving school before hitting the track.
