Grande Prairie RCMP are asking for help from the public in finding two young girls, believed to have run away from home early Tuesday morning.

RCMP said the two girls, aged 10 and 13 were reported to have run away from their respective homes at about 2:30 a.m.

Police spent much of the day searching for them, but they were not found.

RCMP are searching for Shaniese Kerr, 10, and Hope Gladue, 13, both from Grande Prairie.

Kerr is described as:

  • Aboriginal
  • About 165 cm (5’5”) tall
  • 63 kg (140 lbs.)
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

She was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, jeans and pink and blue high-tip sneakers.

Police said Kerr appears to be much older than her age, and could pass for a 12 to 15-year-old.

Gladue is described as:

  • Aboriginal
  • 157 cm (5’2”) tall
  • 45 kg (100 lbs.)
  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes

Gladue was last seen wearing a red baseball cap, black coat, black pants and a black back pack.

The pair are believed to be together – police said there have been unconfirmed reports of Kerr being at the Canadian Motor Inn at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
