Police in central Alberta are investigating a fatal collision north of Red Deer Sunday evening.

Red Deer RCMP said officers were called to the single-vehicle crash near Johnstone Drive and Orr Drive Sunday.

It’s believed a silver Porsche, allegedly being driven erratically at a high speed, travelled east from Highway 11 onto 67 Street.

It’s alleged the driver ran two red lights just before losing control of the vehicle – police said while it was travelling at a high rate of speed, the car crossed the median and hit a tree.

The vehicle then rolled, before bursting into flames.

According to police, the female driver was the only one inside the vehicle at the time, and she died on the scene.
