Police in the Devon area continued searching for a man reportedly swept away by the current on the North Saskatchewan River Sunday evening.

Devon RCMP said officers were called Sunday at about 5 p.m. to the river after reports came in of a missing swimmer.

RCMP said the 22-year-old man and his friend were crossing the river, about 150 metres east of the Devon bridge, when he was swept away by the current.

Police said the Devon and Edmonton Fire Departments, and STARS were dispatched and were helping with the search Sunday evening.

On Monday, an official with the Town of Devon told CTV News the missing man is from Leduc, and said RCMP had continued their search Monday morning.
