One person has died following a single-vehicle collision northeast of Edmonton.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded to the incident on Highway 831 and Township road 550 in Lamont County around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

Emergency services discovered the driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene.

Three passengers were transported to the University of Alberta hospital and have since been released.

Investigators said they believe the vehicle was heading east on Township Road 550 when the driver lost control, ending up in the northeast ditch of Highway 831 after skidding and rolling at least once.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

Officials also said they believe alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Police will not be releasing the victim’s name out of respect to all people involved.
