Health care workers in Red Deer have ratified their first collective agreement.

About 130 workers at the Symphony Senior Living Aspen Ridge facility will be returning to work after going on strike Monday, January 28.

The agreement was reached between the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and the employers on Friday and union representatives said the deal was approved on Saturday.

According to the union wages will increase for License Practical Nurses (LPNs) by 18.4 per cent and Heath Care Aides (HCAs) by 38.3 per cent.

Support employees will see an increase of 17.2 to 18.2 per cent depending on their classification.

LPNs and HCA will also get a signing bonus of $1,500 while support employees will get $1,200.

The agreement will expire on January 20, 2016.
