A number of residents from a Stony Plain townhouse complex are without a home Monday; hours after a fire tore through part of the row-housing complex.

The Stony Plain Fire Department told CTV News crews were called to the home, on 44 Avenue and 28 Street in Stony Plain just after 8 a.m. Monday.

RCMP had to block the road while crews battled the flames – it took over an hour and a half to get the fire under control.

It’s believed the fire started small, but quickly spread – in the end, two separate buildings, and two units of each of those buildings were affected.

It’s believed about 10 residents were displaced by the fire.

Officials believe the fire was not deliberately set.
