As Edmonton is hit with heavy rain, part of a roof in a west-end warehouse collapsed late Tuesday afternoon.

The collapses occurred around 4:30 p.m. near 147 Street and Yellowhead Trail. No injuries were reported in the incident.

"We've never seen anything life this before", said building owner Sine Chadi. "And certainly not for the amount of rain and moisture we've got. And it appears as though the building collapsed under the weight of the water."

Fire officials say a gas leak also occurred after one of the building's gas meters bent in the collapse.

The owner says Pacific Western Drywall was leasing the space, and the building was being used to store materials.

Chadi says the building was up to code. The 35-year-old building's roof was replaced about two years ago.
