Several days after a body was found outside of a north Edmonton apartment building, and a man was charged – police have laid charges against a second man in connection with the homicide.

On Saturday, police said Kevin Charles Witchekan, 29, had been charged with second degree murder and robbery, along with a number of related charges.

Police were called to the apartment building located at 129 Avenue 64 Street just after 1 am, Wednesday for a weapons complaint – but when they arrived found the dead body of a man nearby.

Following the autopsy, police confirmed 41-year-old Daniel Barata had died from a stab wound.

The next day, police charged Byron Crane, 28, with second degree murder.

Witchekan is in custody, and has been scheduled to appear in court on May 28.
