A suspect is in custody after a series of fires were set on the city's south side Saturday.

The blazes all broke out between 105 Street and 106 Street from 67 Avenue to 74 Avenue.

Firefighters first responded to two plastic garbage cans on fire around 3 p.m. Saturday.

In a span of an hour, seven other fires were lit.

"We probably had four different stations responding to various calls," said Cpt. Jeff Vrolyk with Edmonton Fire and Rescue.

"We were all in the area while the arsonist was at large, so our response was quite quick at all locations."

Some of the fires were set in vehicles, others in garages and at least one at a home.

No one was injured.

There is no word yet on charges or damage estimates.
