A day after Spider-Mable and Spider-man rescued the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, the pint-sized hero is being recognized by the hockey team, and her crime-fighting caper is being credited for helping the organization that put together the whole day.

On Monday, Spider-Mable – a 6-year-old who has been fighting cancer for two years – charmed Edmontonians and the world through social media as she worked with Spider-man to rescue Oiler Andrew Ference, who was ‘kidnapped’ by villain Mysterio.

As a reward for saving Ference, Spider-Mable was invited to participate in the ceremonial puck drop at Tuesday’s pre-season Oilers game against Arizona.

“The support and how far it went is just incredible,” Spider-Mable’s mom Lisa Tooke said Tuesday.

Many followed the day-long caper on social media – and Spider-Mable had messages from Conservative Leader Stephen Harper, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley, even Spider-man himself tweeted, and was retweeted by Marvel Comics.

“It just went boom and Twitter is blowing up, and we never expected that,” Tooke said.

The adventure was also positive for the Children’s Wish Foundation – officials told us they have seen a surge in donations since Monday.

“We’ve been seeing donations come across which is great, something we didn’t expect at all,” Jenna Rego with the Children’s Wish Foundation said.

The little girl had a packed day planned for Tuesday, with back-to-back interviews scheduled, wrapping up with the puck drop – it’s all more than the family ever expected.

“She sort of imagined herself being a crime fighter and going along with it, but no we never thought anything like this will happen,” Tooke said. “It’s amazing.”
