Saskatchewan RCMP has charged a man in connection with the carjacking incident that began late Wednesday, Oct 11 in Edmonton.

Jeremy Kelly Buffin, 29, was arrested when he exited a car that became stuck in a swamp near Maidstone, Saskatchewan Thursday morning.

The car was reported stolen from a residence between Maidstone and Lloydminster that morning. Members of the RCMP from several detachments were on scene in the area until late in the evening.

Buffin has been charged with robbery with a weapon, pointing a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by a crime, and flight from police.

At this time a second individual has not been located and it is unknown if a second individual was involved in this incident. We are remaining vigilant and are asking the public to do the same: do not approach suspicious vehicles or persons and report any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons in the Maidstone area to police.
