A suspicious death in the area of 119 Ave. and 81 St. has now been deemed a homicide, according to police.

Officers received a call on a report of a sudden death at an apartment building called Eastwood Heights Monday afternoon.

Police now say they are investigating the city's seventh homicide of the year. The body of a 40-year-old female was found inside a residence.

"There are some suspicious things in the residence that I am not prepared to talk about right now," said Det. Bill Clark.

Neighbours in the area tell CTV News police have been to the building before and it is an area known for its partying.

"There are occasionally people that wander through this neighbourhood that are either bums or gang members stuff like that," said building resident Stan Anderson.

Police won't say if the woman lived at the building or if she was known to police.
