With the cost of oil reaching an all time high gas prices are of course following suit and Alberta is not immune to the changes.

The highest gas prices in the province are currently in Grande Prairie where gasoline sells for 136.9 cents a litre.

Some residents there say the high cost has caused them to become more aware of their habits.

"You are more conscious of how you drive, and you don't go as many places," said diesel pickup truck owner Jim Edey in Grande Prairie.

In Edmonton the prices have not hit that mark yet, but at the Safeway on Guardian Road gas has hit 131.9 cents a litre. Most stations in the city, however, range between 120.0 to 130.0 cents a litre.

The cheapest price in the province is in Drumheller where gas sells for 119.0 cents a litre.

And while the majority of vehicles run on gas, the cost of diesel should not be ignored. Grande Prairie once again takes the lead with 141.9 cents a litre. The lowest reported price is at the Tempo gas station in Spruce Grove with diesel selling for 125.9 cents a litre.
