Police in northern Alberta have laid a number of charges against two men, after an ongoing drug investigation led officers to search a hotel room.
Peace Regional RCMP said officers searched a room in a Peace River hotel in the early hours of Sunday, November 18, after receiving a tip from the public.
Investigators seized $2,000 in cash, 7 grams of cocaine, a number of weapons, a number of items that were stolen in a recent break and enter in the area, along with drug trafficking-related paraphernalia.
As a result, RCMP laid a number of trafficking-related charges against two men:
- Mitchell Badke, 21, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing or resisting a Peace Officer and possession of a prohibited weapon
- Dallas Matthew, 25, of Edmonton – is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of failing to comply, possession of a prohibited weapon
RCMP also found at the time of his arrest that Matthew had seven warrants, which officers also executed.
It’s believed Matthew and Badke had been trafficking cocaine out of their hotel for several days before police searched the room.
