Officials with Alberta Justice have confirmed to CTV News that Travis Vader – who is charged in the deaths of a St. Albert couple and was out on bail – is back behind bars.

RCMP told CTV News the incident in question took place Thursday evening at Vader’s mother’s home – and Vader and his mother’s boyfriend were involved.

Police were called to the scene early Friday afternoon.

Vader, 42, is facing charges of assault and breach of bail.

In late December, 2014, Vader was re-arrested in connection to the murders of Lyle and Marie McCann.

The move came after charges against him in the double murder were stayed in March, 2014 – he had been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection to the deaths of the couple.

He was granted bail on the recommenced charges just before Christmas.

RCMP said Vader remained in custody Friday – he appeared before a Justice of the Peace Friday afternoon, and he was granted bail on recognizance.

Police said a new residence needs to be approved by Vader’s bail supervisor before he can be released on bail, as he had been living at his mother’s home.

Other conditions related to Vader’s release include he will have to be monitored electronically.

He’s scheduled to appear in court in St. Albert March 9.
