The man convicted in the death of Johnny Altinger, has withdrawn the appeal of his murder conviction.
Alberta Justice confirmed to CTV News that Mark Twitchell is no longer pursuing appeals of his conviction.
Twitchell was found guilty by a jury in April 2011 of first degree murder – drawing an almost month-long trial to an end.
The next month, Twitchell filed a hand-written notice of appeal, which blamed media attention on his trial for influencing the jury.
He was found guilty of bludgeoning, and fatally stabbing Johnny Altinger in a Mill Woods garage in October 2008.
Two years later, some of Altinger's remains were found in a sewer in a north Edmonton alley, near the home of Twitchell's parents.
Now that his appeal has been withdrawn, which occurred on February 15, he will serve his full sentence of life in prison, with no chance of parole for 25 years.
