Police in central Alberta said two individuals had been arrested and were facing charges in connection to an investigation that led to the recovering of a number of stolen items, and firearms.

Officers with Sundre and Rocky Mountain House detachments with the RCMP Auto Theft Section executed a search warrant for stolen goods at a rural property near Rocky Mountain House in Clearwater County on Wednesday, September 28.

During the search, RCMP seized 16 brand-new quads and snowmobiles, three new RV units, two trailers, a low boy flat deck trailer and five used trucks. In addition, firearms were also seized from the home.

Police said most of the quads and snowmobiles were still in their original crates, while others had been assembled on the property.

The investigation had started the day before, after police received reports of a theft from a truck in Sundre – information gathered in that investigation led to Sundre RCMP to a property south of Rocky Mountain House.

Police are still investigating, and working to figure out the correct owners of the stolen property – it’s believed many of the quads and snowmobiles, and the low boy trailer were stolen from Calgary. Two of the RVs were stolen from Sundre, and the third from Calgary.

John Michael Kidd, 38, of Rocky Mountain House, was arrested at the scene, and is facing 11 property related charges, in addition to two firearms-related charges.

He was released on his own recognizance, and is scheduled to appear in court October 26 in Rocky Mountain House.

Kacy Savoie, 29, of Calgary has also been charged. He was arrested at the scene, and is facing a dozen charges: 11 property-related charges, and one charge for being in possession of a controlled substance.

Savoie remains in custody, and was scheduled to appear in a Red Deer courtroom September 30.

More charges are pending against both accused in relation to the stolen quads and snowmobiles.
