RCMP east of Edmonton have laid a number of drug-related charges, after tips from the public lead officers to uncover a marijuana grow op.

Strathcona County RCMP said members from their Drug Unit searched a home located on Main Boulevard in Sherwood Park at about 6 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4.

The search was conducted following tips from the public, and an investigation that was carried out with help from the ALERT Green Team – into the potential marijuana grow operation on the property.

Inside, police found about 35 marijuana plants, along with equipment used in production of the plants.

In addition, police found an illegally stored handgun and stun gun.

Two men living in the home were arrested at the time of the search without incident.

On Wednesday, RCMP said Drew Daley, and Cody Lake, both 26-eyars-old, were facing a number of charges, including production and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime, careless use of a firearm, and knowingly possessing a firearm while unauthorized.

Both Daley and Lake have been released on bail, and are scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
