The City of Edmonton announced the opening dates for the city’s two newest recreation centres, in southeast and northeast Edmonton.

On Thursday, November 27 at 5:30 a.m., officials said The Meadows Community Recreation Centre and The Meadows Library will open.

The Meadows facility features two NHL-sized indoor ice rinks, with seating for spectators, a ten-lane 25-metre fitness pool, a 250 metre indoor track, a fitness centre and gymnasium, and an indoor playground.

Then on Monday, December 15 at 5:30 a.m., the Clareview Community Recreation Centre and Clareview Library will open to the public.

In Clareview, the facility features Olympic and NHL-sized arenas with seating, a 250-metre indoor track, seven multi-purpose rooms, an eight-lane 25-metre fitness pool and fitness centre, a gymnasium, indoor playground, and a multi-cultural centre for new immigrant organizations.

Grand opening celebrations are planned for Saturday, December 6 at The Meadows, and Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Clareview.
