RCMP in northern Alberta said two people had to be taken to hospital Friday, after a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 63.
RCMP said the collision on Highway 63 near Mariana Lake involved two semi-tractor trailers and a number of passenger vehicles, which had yet to be determined.
According to police, many of the vehicles involved in the collision were damaged from hitting debris on the roadway.
The collision took place early Friday afternoon, at about 5 p.m., police said traffic was moving slowly through the area on one lane, but the highway was still partially obstructed and crews were expected to remain on the scene into the evening cleaning up the mess.
Meanwhile, RCMP advised drivers avoid travel in the area, due to poor driving conditions from heavy snow and wet road conditions.
