Two women are facing charges in connection with an alleged residential bawdy house operation.

Police say their investigation began in December of last year when officers received information about a residence around 97 Ave and 106 Street.

Investigators say around $1,700 in cash and large amounts of paraphernalia related to the sex trade were seized from the house.

As the investigation continued, police say they were able to identify two other locations allegedly being used as bawdy houses by the accused, which remain under investigation.

"These arrests and charges are a direct result of a lengthy investigation and multi-agency collaboration including Edmonton Police Service and the City of Edmonton's By-law Services and the community at large," said Staff Sgt. John Fiorilli of the EPS VICE Section.

Magdalena Beresinska, 24 and Alexandra Martinez, 23, have been charged with one count each of keep common bawdy house, living off the avails of prostitution and proceeds of crime.
