Central Alberta RCMP have released the identity of a man found dead early Tuesday morning – Red Deer’s first homicide of 2013.

The news comes two days after a man’s body was found in an alley in Red Deer just after 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day.

On Thursday, RCMP said that an autopsy was performed on the deceased on Wednesday – and the victim had been identified as Lloyd Robert Sarson, 25.

The Medical Examiner also found the cause of Sarson’s death was gunshot wounds.

Investigators said early evidence suggests the homicide was not random.

Police are still investigating, and said no arrest has been made so far.

Red Deer RCMP are asking anyone with information on the case to call their detachment at 403-343-5575, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
