Officials with West Edmonton Mall are investigating after a man suffered injuries Wednesday morning in a section of the mall.
A West Edmonton Mall spokesperson said the incident happened at about 10 a.m., when a mall employee was injured by electric shock.
The man was taken to hospital; CTV News has learned he was conscious and breathing at the time.
Alberta Health Services said the patient was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The incident cut power to the southwest portion of Phase 1 – and just before noon Wednesday the power remained out in that part of the mall.
Fire crews and EPCOR officials remained on the scene throughout the morning.
