Occupational Health and Safety is investigating after a worker died while on the job at a rail yard in Fort Saskatchewan earlier this week.

A stop-work order is currently in place at the rail yard, where 18-year-old Cody Demary died Wednesday.

RCMP said Demary was working at the Canadian National Railway supply yard when he was run over by a tractor trailer.

A crane was required to lift the vehicle off of Demary, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Occupational Health and Safety has seized the tractor trailer unit for mechanical inspection," Barrie Harrison with OHS said. "That's quite standard in something like this,

"We want to make sure everything is operating appropriately for that."

CTV News has also heard from Demary's father Brett, an emergency official with Thorhild County, who said he had told his son to find another job after hearing about the conditions Cody was working under.

Brett Demary said what he had heard about safety on the worksite made him ‘uncomfortable'.
