CTV News has confirmed Alberta’s teachers have reached a tentative contract agreement with the province.

Earlier this week, Education Minister Jeff Johnson made the offer to the province’s 35,000 teachers.

That offer has been presented to the provincial executive council of the Alberta Teachers Association – and was discussed Wednesday night, where the ATA and council recommended the deal to members.

A meeting of ATA members has been scheduled for Saturday morning in Edmonton to discuss the matter further.

The ATA had already rejected two previous offers by the minister, opting to return to collective bargaining at the local level.

Few details on the province-wide deal were immediately available, however, Premier Alison Redford is expected to shed more light on the developments Friday.
