A provincial fundraiser this year has gathered its highest annual amount ever.

Fill Our FLeet, an AMA Community Foundation fundraiser for local food banks, took in $322,516.54 in 2024, the Alberta Motor Association (AMA) said in a recent media release.

The total, which includes $100,000 of donation-matching by the AMA, is the most the fundraiser has collected in its history.

"What's beautiful about it is not only, as an organization, has AMA banded together and created this togetherness across the province to raise food and funds for local food banks ... especially at this time -- 2024 has been a difficult year, not just for Edmonton's Food Bank but food banks across the province, and having this commitment from the community to give us this boost right now is important because we can't keep our doors open without (it)," Tamisan Bencz, spokesperson for Edmonton's Food Bank, told CTV News Edmonton on Sunday.

The money raised in each community goes to its local food bank. The facilities across the province see almost 173,000 visits per month, according to the AMA media release.
