Police in Camrose are investigating, after a man was found unconscious in a home over the weekend – and was pronounced dead.
Officers were called to a home in the city at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, after a man was reported unconscious inside.
Paramedics were also called to the scene, and the 44-year-old man was rushed to hospital.
“He was transported to hospital,” Inspector Lee Foreman said. “Unfortunately, [he was] declared deceased, we then entered into a criminal investigation, with respect to the suspicious nature of that death.”
On Monday, police told CTV News the death was considered suspicious.
Neighbours told CTV News three people lived in the one-bedroom apartment where the man was found unconscious – and the victim did not live there.
An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, until then police will not release the name of the victim or the cause of death.
Police said a suspect is in custody, but no charges have been laid.
