A Christmas tradition for many and a major event for Edmonton’s Food Bank is set to kick off at the end of the week.
Candy Cane Lane will kick off Friday, December 9, the first night for the massive holiday light display and food drive, anyone going to Candy Cane Lane is asked to bring a non-perishable food donation.
The event will start between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., and will have the Executive Director of Edmonton’s Food Bank Marjorie Bencz, City Councillor Andrew Knack and Ted and Kate Gardiner, two local residents on hand.
Candy Cane Lane is an essential event for Edmonton’s Food Bank to reach their goal of raising $1,400,000, and 275,000 kilograms of food for the 2016 holiday season.
Candy Cane Lane is located on 148 Street between 100 Avenue and 92 Avenue. It will be open for visitors nightly between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. until Saturday, December 31.
