RCMP south of Edmonton said a downed power line tied up traffic going to and from the Edmonton International Airport for some time Wednesday afternoon.
Leduc RCMP said at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, officers noticed a powerline on the roadway near Airport Road while they conducted traffic enforcement in the area.
As a result, officers worked to divert traffic until crews could come and move the line – it’s believed the powerline was down because a construction truck hit the power pole.
At one point, a vehicle became tangled in the lines, and crews had to turn off power to the area to free the vehicle. No one was hurt.
The road was closed for an hour.
