According to an internal memo obtained by CTV News, the manager of the Edmonton Transit System is now out of a job.
The memo, sent to ETS staff on Monday, said manager Charles Stolte had been fired, and an interim manager had been chosen.
The general manager of ETS confirmed a change in leadership, but wouldn’t confirm whether delays to the Metro LRT line had anything to do with the decision.
Mayor Don Iveson said he can’t comment on the change, but told CTV News he doesn’t think it will affect the new, long-delayed, LRT line.
“I think the project is substantially complete, they’re working out the final bugs – which are really on the contractor’s side,” Iveson said. “So I don’t think any changes at the City in terms of staff will have any bearing on the completion of the project.”
The new LRT line was supposed to open in April 2014, but has been delayed for more than a year due to a number of issues.
The City has not set a new opening date for the project.
