A late night mission on the north Saskatchewan river has left one firefighter with injuries.
Two river rescue boats were called out, around 9:00pm Wednesday night, to retrieve a man who was stuck on a sandbar just west of the Capilano bridge.
"I'm not sure why he was on the island," said Fire Captain Reg Axani. "It happens every once in a while where people do foolish things and they get themselves into situations where we have to respond to get them out of."
Fire crews say one of the rescue boats hit a rock causing a fireman to fall into the water. He was treated on the scene and not sent to hospital.
