A Sunday morning fire at a commercial-residential building in central Edmonton is under control, the fire department says.

Crews arrived at the two-storey building on 101 Street south of 107 Avenue across the street from The Brick at 11:30 a.m. A spokesperson for the Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) said the blaze was under control at 12:57 p.m.

No injuries are reported. One person was inside the building at the time and evacuated on their own, the EFRS spokesperson said, adding seven crews were sent to the scene.

CTV News Edmonton saw firefighters working in the alley behind the building and accessing it through a second-storey door to what appeared to be an apartment, with smoke coming through the doorway.
