A former brewery site in Edmonton may be redeveloped into a mixed-use neighbourhood with housing, retail, restaurant and office properties by Anthem Properties in collaboration with Molson.
Anthem is a privately owned real-estate development, management and investment business that's focused on Western Canada.
"Anthem is currently developing four other mixed-use communities in British Columbia and Alberta," says Eric Carlson, Anthem's chief executive.
"We believe the most sustainable communities are places where you can live, work, play and shop, right in your own neighbourhood."
Molson vice-president Rick Tousaw said in Monday's announcement that Anthem has a track record of involving the community in their projects.
The companies said they'd work with the provincial and local governments to ensure the heritage elements of the site within the Oliver neighbourhood of Edmonton.
"We anticipate that this would be a phased project with the pace of development being dictated by market conditions," Carlson said.
No financial details of the Molson-Anthem agreement were disclosed.
