RCMP has now revealed that a collision Saturday morning claimed the lives of four people. Officers were called to Highway 21 between Airport Road and Highway 625 just before 11:00 am.
Police believe that a Saturn Ion traveling north on Highway 21 lost control after hitting an icy patch, and slid into oncoming traffic, hitting a semi head on. Four people in the Saturn died instantly. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
Highway 21 was closed for most of Saturday afternoon, but has now been re-opened.
The names of the victims are not being released.
